Final image in my Grand Canyon Sunrise trilogy. The first (click next 2x) was taken about 20 minutes before sunrise. The 2nd (click next 1x) was taken exactly at sunrise. This one was taken about 40 minutes after sunrise on my way back to the lodge. I kept looking for something with character to screen the (now too high) sun and settled on this tree.
I shot this scene several times to ensure getting a sunburst (small aperture and just a tiny bit of sun peeking behind the tree for this effect). When I looked them over this one had a person in it - do you see him/her - who certainly provides a sense of scale.
(On a sad note, that person is standing near the area where a 4 year old girl had fallen 450 feet to her death two days before.) Me with my vertigo and poor sense of balance did not belong here.
