Sunrise (actually 20 minutes before actual sunrise) at the Grand Canyon - South Rim Yavapai Point (along with 75 of my closest friends from around the world). Many seemed to be amused and wondering when I stood behind this tree instead of in "prime" unobstructed space. Also, most had their point & shoots in their pockets while awaiting the magical instant that the sun "popped" - what was this crazy man doing shooting a tree in the dark?
I like the graphic design nature of this shot - layered silhouettes. More graphic design than photo. The tree mimics the outline and flow of the nearest canyon wall silhouette.
Drove from the canyon to Albuquerque today on the last leg of of our cross country trip (6,000 miles, so far). This is the final weekend of the international hot air balloon festival here. Planning to go to the night glow event tomorrow - and then start the final drive home on Sunday (Sunday night Oklahoma City, Monday Nashville, Tuesday my own bed at last).
