Coming to you from Sequoia/Kings Canyon national park. Off to Yosemite tomorrow for three days.
I was finishing a walk on the Great Tree Trails in the Giant Forest (sequoia groves intermixed with other giant pines) when I came upon this scene. The rangers were doing a controlled burn and the low setting sun's rays mixed with the smoke made a pretty sight.
That's a small sequoia front and center (by sequoia standards where a 20 foot diameter is common; this one is 4-5 feet).
