Please excuse the 2nd 12/30/06 PAD. I'm putting this here as a reminder to myself of when I finally began my winter "learn studio lighting" project. I've always been intrigued with the portraits that have a dramatic light fall off from one side of the face to another - so I made that my first experiment. (this was the only "model" I could afford)
And so what did I learn beyond the mechanics of setting up the camera and wireless flash. Shooting through the umbrella gave a softer & more pleasing shadow than shooting through a diffusion cap (both with the flash set at wide angle for a wider softer light). Flash was about 2-3 feet from the subject.
