12/13/06 - Christmas Cactus Montage

The past few day's PADs have been my photographic version of "make hay while the sun shines" - get flower shots while the flowers are in bloom.
This is a montage - two copies of the same image overlaid on one another; one is in sharp focus and the other is out of focus & totally blurred. The net effect is a highly saturated ethereal composite. A montage of this type is usually recognizable by a haze/halo/glow effect around some objects within the image - in this case a reddish glow around petals in some places (this is due to the blurred out of focus component which extends beyond the boundaries of the in focus part).

Nikon D70
