Folks seemed to like yesterday's image that was in this same style - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/68745500 so let's try another. Last night's judge liked the style as well and gave a ribbon to this PAD from last week - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/68363504
I mispsoke yesterday in calling this a multiple exposure. In one sense it is since it's a combination of two exposures of the same image - one taken in sharp focus and one totally out of focus and blurred. The soft gauze appearance with saturated colors comes from overlaying the normal image with the blurry version whci is blurred so that everything is *larger* than normal. Traditionally (with film/slide) this is done by sandwiching two slides *out of the camera*. OUT of the camera is the key distinction between this technique - a Montage - and a true multiple exposure which is accomplished IN the camera. Sorry for the confusion.
