On the edge of a cliff (actually 2 feet back to leave room for the tripod) in Acadia National Park waiting for the sun to rise when along came a large cruise ship entering Bar Harbor. I came back the next morning and shot another similar scene but this time with a telephoto lens so that the emphasis was on another liner lit up like a Christmas tree with all of its lights. I liked this first one better - nicer mood and colors.
Getting to the shooting location in the pitch black without killing myself will be a fond memory. Never let it be said that I stuck to the well traveled path, or to any path at all - more like Robert Frost with the Road Not Taken.
