Please excuse today's double PAD posting. After going away for five days (and shooting every day but no internet access) I have some catching up to do.
This beauty was one of nearly 100 growing in a naturalized "yard" at someone's house in Wintergreen, VA. The "yard" was basically the mountain's natural state augmented by 100's of wildflowers the owner "rescued" from the bulldozers as new homes were built in this mountain resort over the past two decades. Here's a Pink Lady's Slipper that was growing just feet away from today's PAD - http://www.pbase.com/ed_k/image/59985415 - I think the yellow's are more striking.
