12/23/05 - Don't Fence Me In

Still having fun. Still searching for the perfect "enhanced" (manipulated) image to enter in January's Enhanced Print category of the club's monthly competition. Decided to change from the two animal shots of the previous two days to a landscape. I'm not certain what, if anything, to add in terms of shadow for this one. Here's the shadow version; any opinions - http://www.pbase.com/image/53889344
At the last minute, I decided to do some "manipulation" beyond the "out of frame" technique (which doesn't alter the content of the image; it just uses "creative" cropping). Manipulation is something that I'm normally not in favor of - let the photo be a photo and not some piece of creative art. However, I had always wished that I could have gotten back to this site a few weeks later when that maple would have turned a spectacular red. This is my interpretation of what I'd have seen.

You have a great eye Ed. Love the "out of frame" look, and especially this one.
I'm new here, wonder if you could point me in direction where I could find out how to learn this technique.

Excellent out-of-the-frame image.
