11/02/04 - Vote!

The point in the line in front of the women in the foreground is almost 100 yards from the voting machines - and the line extends for another 100 yards behind this point. Great turnout. Folks at the end of the line were looking at a 1-2 hour wait (depending on the first letter of their last name). We G-L's had the shortest wait by a factor of two. Surprising.

Looks like South Africa 12 years ago. Democracy at work, whether we like the result or not.

Wow, great turnout. We had voting all week so even though it was crowded, it was nothing like this.

Great perspective. Gives you a real sense of the numbers of people.

It's great to see everyone getting out and voting. For all of you standing in line, rain or shine, thank you. My polling place was deserted. It's great to see democracy in action. Great shot.

50 feet in Florida; I doubt the signs have to be no closer than 100 yards in Colorado.

Here in Colorado, I believe they can't bring signs any closer than 100 yards. So in this image the law may be being pushed to the inch.

That's quite a line, looks promising since I can't believe so people don't execute their right to vote and let their voice heard. So important...

And thanks for the tip! Theoretically my camera should be able to do F8 so I'll try.

Gary, this is northern Virginia. I was surprised also. There were lots of signs throughout the school grounds - both parties and all candidates. Some were on the order of 3'x4'. Interesting - I'll have to check & see what the local ordinances are.

Wow! I notice a Kerry/Edwards sign towards the front of the line. Here they don't allow Candidate propaganda anywhere near the polling place. Do they allow it there, or is this someone thinking they are above the law?
