This is the invitation for the SNP's 75th Anniversary Inaugural Event to be help 11/5. Curses - I was invited and can't attend due to a conflict.
I am a volunteer photographer for the park service (since 2005). I'm known as "the pretty picture guy". They use my images extensively in newsletters, visitor guides, brochures, posters and websites. This image is special though (to me at least) since this is the 2nd 75th anniversary in the park in the past two years - the previous was the 75th Anniversary on the Civilian Conservation Corps. I've been honored with the feature image both times (eat your heart out, Ansel - he was a park service volunteer, too, in case you didn't know). The CCC poster background was Photoshopped by park service folks; the invitation is basically as it came from the camera (this version is a photo of the invitation as I don't have the file they created from my original). It's blurry because I shot it handheld in a dim room with my point & shoot (don't ask why) but it gets the idea across. I don't shoot "assignments" - well once - I just go to the park and shoot what I want, send them an occasional CD with my latest, and they use what they want & how. I realize that this sort of competition upsets Professionals but it's always been this way with the park service - evidence one of my predecessors, Ansel Adams.
