A male Eastern Tiger Swallowtail at Dickey Ridge - Skyline Drive, Shenandoah National Park. I had this craving to photograph butterflies and did my regular 165 mile roundtrip to the park. Dickey Ridge is a spot loaded with thistle and milkweed - a natural for finding butterflies, but there weren't many to be found. Tried to be patient and stood around for an hour in a patch of thistles but didn't get many opportunities - more so than anywhere else in the park that I tried but a bummer nevertheless.
