12/18/08 - Color through Glass

It must be boredom setting in. Another in a continuing search for new photo ops.
This is an image made of two antique medicine bottles positioned in front of a colored pattern on my computer monitor. Shot with a fairly wide open macro lens. A friend has a studio with lots of big stained glass windows which create magical light for photography. This is my "poor man's stained glass window". The neat thing is that I can create new windows in a heartbeat. Also any given window can be changed in real time by zooming, rotating, changing brightness/saturation and hue. And then move the glass that you're shooting through the slightest amount and it's a whole new ballgame. I think there are nice abstracts to be had once I get some better glass to shoot through. Here's what the setup looks like - pretty ugly - http://ed-k-photo.smugmug.com/gallery/6743129_wZgCB#439008944_3UNUD

Very good effect, I might give that a go sometime. V
