7/12/08 - Hibiscus Close-up

18-200 mm at 200 with a Canon 500D close-up lens - looking at the bottom of a hibiscus.
I prefer my 105 1:1 macro for macros & close-ups because it provides better selective focus control (at f/2.8 vs the f/5.6 on this 18-200; two full stops for a more shallow DOF) - and I like soft shall DOF effects as a rule. However, for today's PAD I wanted to keep everything in sharp focus and for that the 18-200 is fine.

1/15s f/16.0 at 200.0mm iso200 full exif

other sizes: small medium original auto

Oh, I love this graphic/composition! The contrasting colors in muted hues are beautiful, as are all the arching lines and curves. And the spray of droplets is a delightful addition.
