At the excavation site of a Han dynasty's emperor, the Chinese government built a structure to protect the dig and its many discoveries. Visitors walk on a glass floor overlooking each pit and its contents. Construction of this mausoleum began around 153 B.C.E., and was discovered in 1989 by archeaologists. The site is still under excavation by the Shaanxi Provincial Research Institute of Archaeology.
