Views like this make it all worth while.
Damp and wet rock, moss and grass all ablaze with light and colour; gleaming resplendent and priceless as rare gems. Probably made all the more enjoyable by the fact that we were going down!
Dropping over the slight mound in the first half of the photograph is a small lake called Ffynnon Lloer, which can be used as a point of reference to take a bearing just as the clouds typically roll in thick and fast. Otherwise the descent can be steep and rough. Helpfully, though, it becomes reasonably well-marked from the lake, where a path runs back to Idwal Cottage hostel.
