John McEnroe (USA) beat Paul McNamee (Australia) 6-2, 6-2. What a treat this was! Lots of whooping and cheering greeted both players onto the Court but then you could have heard a pin drop as the players warmed up! Such reverence shown by the Liverpool crowd! A fine exhibiton game, both players still showing their competitive spirit will never die, including a medium sized show down with the umpire from John and lots of banter with the crowd, who proved they can be as cheeky as John!
