Jake, thank you for your kind comment! I like backlighting to illuminate the color and patterns, and always attempt to focus on the butterfly's eyes. A long lens (300mm equivalent in this case), high ISO, fast shutter speed, and high speed drive are all helpful. Even so, they tend to flitter away about the time you have them in focus with a suitable background, so patience and persistence are also in order. :-)
