Chartres

With so many superlative experiences in France and Belgium, it would be difficult to pick out one day or one experience as the best. Even so, our day in Chartres would be a top contender! Chartres is a lovely little town located about 95km to the southwest of Paris. If you are "cathedral hunting" for photographs, Chartres Cathedral is considered to be the finest Gothic cathedral in France! Completed in 1260, the cathedral is known for the vivid blue color of its stained glass windows, and for its towering spires that are 344 feet (105 meters) and 370 feet (113 meters) tall. The town itself is lovely and you could easily spend a full day touring the cathedral and the town's many fine shops and cafes.
