Another classic - Ye Olde Photographer would really like a Rolleiflex, but still has some vague sense of fiscal responsibility!
This arrived in September 2010 after another attack of GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). Also picked up a Bay 1 (B30) to Series 6 filter adapter so we could use the set of Series 6 filters already in hand, as well as a Bay 1 lens hood. But since then we have acquired a sufficiency of Bay 1 filters and cobbled up a case for them. Adding a cushy neck strap helps, as it appears the easiest way to fiddle the controls on these is with both hands more or less free. Ye Olde Photographer amuses himself by using a strap emblazoned with "Canon EOS Digital."
Not sure about the meter, it was designed to use the now outlawed mercury cells. We have an adapter to use silver oxide or alkaline cells, but at the moment, the meter appears intermittent - possibly a dirty contact in the switch that enables it when the hood is raised. Having two recent vintage and accurate separate light meters, the built-in unit is not a major concern.
With this, we show the twelve frames from a roll of 400TX, YOP's first through this camera. The shots covered an assortment of the camera's resources, and the results suggest it's in quite decent shape.
Noticing on a nippy cold day in November 2017 that the shutter release button was noticeably slow in returning after taking a picture, we treated this camera to a CLA with Mark Hama. It now works much more smoothly, and the lightmeter is now working! To celebrate, and check it out, we took some pictures after a snow in January 2018. The temperature being down in the teens (Fahrenheit) seemed to be harder on the photographer than the camera. We can hope it will be good for another 35 years! (There are five shots on the second row here.)
