In August 2016 Ye Olde Photographer, accompanied by his Faire Spouse, motored down to the area of Conway SC to visit his sister and brother-in-law in the new home they have built in retirement. It was a short visit, but we got to see a bit of the city of Conway and sample some good restaurant fare.
Our wanderings included a boat tour of Conway navigated and narrated by Captain Jim, a highly entertaining and well informed local who grew up there and played in the swamps along the Waccamaw River as a kid. We also went down the road a bit to Brookgreen Gardens, a major sculpture park. YOP has been there before, but this occasion allowed us to see the 83rd Exhibition of the National Sculpture Society. This was especially exciting, as YOP's niece's husband is a talented sculptor who had a bronze piece accepted into the exhibit — and won an award.
Some additional pictures of Brookgreen Gardens and Conway may be seen on YOP's Argus Day page for 2016. They were B&W film shots taken with his 1957 vintage Argus C-3!
In November 2018 we spent a few days in the Conway and Myrtle Beach areas to attend a less happy family gathering.
