This was the Saturday of our 2012 Turkey Day weekend. Overnight the weatherstripping whistled and whirred as winds possibly gusting 40 MPH blasted in from the west. We chose to drive up to the dining hall whence we discovered the in-dash temperature indication was 20ºF! And there was still wind at maybe 10 MPH - BRR-r-r-r-r-!
After breakfast with our friends, and seeing them off, we decided that our 'visiting a winery' idea sounded pretty good. So after waiting a couple of hours for it to get a bit warmer, we wandered down into the Shenandoah Valley and eventually to North Mountain Vineyard & Winery. The reds that we tasted were excellent (enough to stock up some) and we had the good fortune of getting in on a Swiss Fondue event at the last minute. We sat in a room overlooking vineyards and listened to live music whilst feeding our faces and enjoying glasses of the Cabernet Franc we particularly liked. It was dark by the time we returned to Skyland and we ended the day listening to the music of High Ground.
