The New Hope and Ivyland Railroad is part of another former branch of the Reading Railroad in southeastern Pennsylvania. The line does some freight hauling and runs short tourist excursions from New Hope, a picturesque small town with lots of arts and crafts, theater, and restaurants. They currently are only running diesel power, but a steam locomotive, #40, is in the shop getting a major overhaul of running gear. There is hope that may be in service by October 2017.
A visit to this spot on 04 June 2017 was part of Ye Olde Photographer's participation in a "photo walk" by a small group of photographers. The visit was geared more toward artistic pursuits — exploring light, composition, and texture, than actually documenting the railroad. YOP used his Yashica Mat 124G loaded with Ilford HP5 Plus, and his Canon A-1, loaded with Kodak 400Tmax. The day was partially sunny with much variation in lighting, and rapidly descended into cloudy and began to rain a bit as we finished.
There was way more opportunity to play with images of Olde Rust than YOP anticipated. He will consider sometime returning with other gear, likely his Bronica SQ-A, several lenses and a fistfull of Fuji Acros 100 or other fine grain film.
