Heating Cool End

The joint between the glass and the pipe, while ultimately temporary, is critical. If it gets too cool, the
differential between glass and metal expansion may crack the glass. It also tends to be cooler as the pipe is
conducting heat away from the glass. An occasional blast from these rather serious torches keeps the temperature up.
