Sabrina Knowles and Jenny Pohlman have been collaborating on work for a number of years in a studio in Seattle. This demo involved each person creating a piece, with the two pieces ultimately joined. In this case the final result is a rather stylized bird on a forked branch. The effort coordinated activities of a half dozen assistants popping up with proper quantities of hot glass as needed and whisking pieces back and forth between the working benches and the reheating furnace.
It quickly awes a viewer to consider this snipping and shaping is being done with material at 1800 to 2100º F. Here this is happening with summertime outdoor temperatures as a base for the heat from this substantial glass furnace.
