An assistant is blowing into the pipe to slowly expand the bubble. The pipe is gently rotated by another assistant.
The pad in Laura's hand is surfaced with a graphite material. The pad is wetted and the glass actually
slides on a layer of steam. (This is the high tech way, in olden times, pads of wet newspaper were used!)
