Well, what's a little extra drainage! I know why this happened; when trimming deeply on
the underside to create that foot, I went through the bottom. After carefully excising the
remainder of the bottom and preparing a seat for an insert, a slab disk was installed. I
should have wrapped the pot in plastic and let it sit in a damp room for a few days to
equalize the moisture content. Failure to do so resulted in shrinkage cracks just during
the drying process. (Live and learn -- well, live, anyway!)
