Some of the finest Roman luxury glass was made between about 30 BCE and 70 CE.
During this period, wealthy Romans used multicolored ribbon-mosaic glass and
gold-band glass. Ribbon-mosaic glass was made from flat, ribbon-like canes arranged
in geometric patterns. These were fused into disks, reheated, and slumped over molds.
