A long, skinny state park in New Jersey, this hiking and biking trail follows a former railroad right-of-way, passing along the remains of the Delaware & Raritan Canal, and along the Delaware River and NJ route 29. In late September 2011, after an extremely soggy late August and September, we again walked the D&R a bit near Bulls Island State Park where the Delaware River was still quite obviously above normal level.
A few shots were taken from a ten mile round trip northward from Stockton, NJ, in 2008. And later on other treks, we took a few shots of the Prallsville Mills complex, a historical site just above Stockton, and a few other random shots.
The suspension bridge, a pedestrian bridge between Bulls Island and Lumberville, New Jersey, brings one out next to the Black Bass Hotel, a building on the Historical Register, where one can connect nearby to the Delaware Canal Towpath Trail.
