On our drive from Cape Cod to Boston, we stopped in Plymouth for a look at Plymouth Rock. It's not clear whether the Pilgrims actually landed here and the rock is more like a pebble, but it was a nice place to stop for a stretch. During our stay in the Boston area, we lodged at the Springhill Suites in Peabody. The hotel supposedly features a wild turkey on the grounds. We didn't see the turkey, but there was a goose wandering around in the parking lot! Highlights of our stay included dinner out with Judy's cousins, a visit to the newly-opened Edward M. Kennedy Institute for the United States Senate and the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum and a relaxing lunch on the wharf in downtown Boston. We also had a special day with Sandy and Joel that included lunch at Charlie's Seafood in Lynn (the fried clams are fabulous) and visits to the fourplex in Malden where Judy lived for the first 11 years of her life, the cemetery in Everett where her father and other relatives are buried and the family wallpaper and paint store in Malden. |
