| On a beautiful October morning, I rode my BMW R1200RS, "the gray bike," to Tucson to visit our dear friend Lila. I rode there via the old two-lane road, AZ 79. Although it's officially named the "Pinal Pioneer Parkway," I always think of it as the Tom Mix Highway, because it was on this road that the famous star of western movies met his demise in October, 1940. Our visit included play time with Afghan Hounds Bo, Morey, Gzila, Lady and Lucy; lunch at Pappoule's Opa! Greek Cafe; and helping Lila resolve some computer issues. Then, a rapid return trip to Tempe via the Interstate highway I-10, for about a 200 mile round trip. It was a delightful ride and we had a lovely visit. What a great day! |
