You got me good Sears. Real good.... Thats okay, really it is. As after my conversation, experience and awful taste of shady warranties I am done. You got me and I hope my washer and dryer break 5 times in the next 2 years and 5 days left on it, so I can bleed you dry of all the money I paid you....
"Why David, you're really salty today about Sears". Yes I am. Last year we bought a new washer and dryer to replace a front loader that was a mold spore machine and was broke more than it worked. We kept it for 7 years and gave up on constant repairs. In search of a good pair that could withstand the laundry insanity in our home we bought a LG set. Went back to a top loader with great reviews. I was hesitant to buy a $259 washer warranty and another $200 for the dryer but I folded at the last minute and did so. It worked out in our favor before when they'd do preventative checks and fix stuff BEFORE it left us with no working appliance. "May the odd's ever be in your favor". So part of this warranty is "preventative" maintenance. Once a year they come out and test, check, adjust and inspect/clean the guts of your stuff.
Well, they used to.
The tech who came out pushed a few buttons on the washer- looks good, turned the dryer on and said " yep- we got heat" and started to leave. 8 minutes! I asked if he was going to clean out the heating element of dust/lint to prevent it from burning up and causing need for repairs? No- they don't allow us to do than anymore. Just come and read for codes and schedule a maintenance appointment IF there is something wrong. I could watch a youtube video on how to read for codes, no serious, I could and have... No preventative maintenace- no real technical skills, no value for my almost 500 dollar warranty we got. Sears tech told me they don't fix problems till the break. Nothing preventative anymore? I understand- it's a insurance policy but how about doing preventive maintenance to prevent shit from going bad? For F's sake- Sears is done with our home and soon I think- as a company....
I'm a sucker to have taken the bet... Never again- never.
