Reflecting on reflectors and gear in general. Shooting portraits is a balance of too much, too little and "just right" light. Balancing it is precarious and often over done with hot spots or dark hollow shadows on a subjects face. Having someone around to hold a reflector is not something I have luxury to experience as I work alone, my "assistant",Flynn listens really well but lacks basic motor skills to stand and hold a 42' round reflector for me.... Enter McNallys "uplight", a couple really awesome clamps and some pocket wizards to tame the light and help me move out of the shadows and into the light-. It's been years of wanting pocket wizards and now having them I don't know how I did some of my shooting without them.
