Apprehension from two separate perspectives. Me, as a father, protector and safe keeper of my children and my daughter doubting she was ready to shoot a firearm today, of her own request and not pushed onto her.
All the way to the farm today I second guessed grabbing our .22's out of the safe. Is she ready? Does she want to shoot or she just really not interested and only humoring her old man.
Sarah on the other hand has asked me for years to go shooting. I introduced her to a BB gun a few years ago. A rifle to start, then this summer a co2 powered pistol. She respects them and is focused when we have used the BB guns. She's a decent shot too!
I had no doubt she'd conduct herself with the rules we have set for us to shoot. This photo was taken after she got comfortable in her ability and confidence was built as soon as she could hit a target. Soon after this she was driving tacks at 25 yards. Proud dad moment.
Her smile, was pure and genuine. Me, satisfied that her first experience with firearms was positive and enjoyable. Building a foundation to what I hope is a life long affinity for the shooting sports....
