Disney, Epcot

Sat next to this Dad and his Daughter at the Rose & Crown for dinner at EPCOT. Got to talking to him about kids, holding on to them and creating memories as they are growing up fast and it's fleeting moments like Disney trips to create some great memories. He was complaining how he just doesn't "understand" girls... I get it, and would classify myself as an expert having 2 daughters. Somedays it's a conundrum of what to say, not to say and, holy shit if you debate them on clothes, music or other things deemed important. But being a dad, specifically to girls is awesome! Challenging, but awesome.

Tracy and I had a great meal and were headed out of the restaurant , no real plans but decided to pass on this Illuminations event with the insane crowds tonight and just head back to our hotel. The staff then offered us lake side seats with this spectacular view so with good seats and the show starting we hung out. The scene was made complete when I saw the dad we had just been talking to at dinner sweep up his 8 year old daughter and put her on his shoulders to see the fireworks. It is a total dad move and super cool in my book. Sometimes it's not words but actions that us dads show to our daughters that let them know we love them. This was one of those moments!

We came here a few days early without our girls. Just my wife and I. We are enjoying it immensely but being kidless has given me a new found appreciation for my girls. While I treasure the time alone it's seeing a sight like this that brings the reality of my kids getting older crashing in all around me!
