I get paid money to design stuff that looks like this.

The pictures below show a microwave circuit (a triple balun mixer to be precise). The size of these circuits are very small. To get an idea of how tiny the features are the line width of the photo showing the spiral is 0.001 inch wide (a piece of paper is about 0.003 inches thick).
