The drywalled ceiling is at 10 feet and I wanted to locate the suspended ceiling at 8. Hence, I cut 16 gauge wire in 35 inch lengths. One end was placed through the eyelet and wrapped around itself at least 3 times (usually 4). This leaves plenty of a "tail" to attach to the main runners and wrap them a minimum of three times. A good "tug" on each to make certain they weren't going anywhere before I moved on to the next.
