Australian Open 2009

The Australian Open - the first grand slam of the year is held mid January each year.

Whilst I have been many times, I recently attended again, with the aim of improving/practicing my 'sports photography' techniques with my 70-200 F2.8 lens.
I wanted to get that perfect shot, whilst still enjoying the game of tennis.

Suffice to say, some of the shots turned out to be a hit and miss. There are some I quite like, but I need to improve not only my technique but my ability to handle extreme hot weather.
Sitting hours and hours in the sun, using the 70-200 F2.8 IS USM lens WITHOUT A MONOPOD (event organisers would not allow any tripods/monopods to be brought into the arena by members of the public) and sitting in a cramped environment, does not lend itself to perfect circumstances.

Oh well, there's always next year to improve. I hope you like them.
