Disgusting

Good morning! I step outside of the house to check on those newly planted plants and...BLECH!!! The walk, the dying lilies, the ground around the new flowers, are all crawling with snails. I mean...a lot. Of. Snails. I have got to get some deadly poison. Or something!

Adding a B&W Attempt of the Snail: http://upload.pbase.com/image/28461570

Anyway, here's a two-fold analysis of my snail shot. First, the snail represents my slowness to take pictures yesterday. I never got to it. I intended to...but then suddenly I had class in the evening and voila! I'm at home and in front of the tv to veg and then it's midnight and I'm stumbling to bed. Second, the snail represents the other disgusting snails in my garden. This guy is the king of snails. I want him executed. I want my garden back!

A note on an accomplishment of mine. I toot my horn here just because...well, where else am I going to do it? I am taking a fiction writing online course through UCLA Extension. I took my first one two years ago. When I was given prompts, I always popped out with a chapter 1 of a fifty-chapter novel that never got beyond chapter 1. This past week, after months and months of no-writing, I was given a prompt and poof! I came out with a whole short story. A beginning, a middle, and an end.

So...like that snail...I'm slowly crawling back to my old writing self. I hope.

Great detail and color. I like the way his (her??) antennae are extended. Good luck with your writing! Hope you sell your story (if you want to, that is.)

Jypsee, yes, yes...I knew there was a natural way to get rid of these horrid things! Thank you for the reminder.

And thank you everyone for the lovely comments!

Carolyn, get a saucer and set it into the ground so that the lip is at ground level; put beer in the saucer (drink the rest of the beer :^) and the slugs will crawl into the beer and drown.
I actually LIKE this picture....great, BEAUTY-ful picture :o)

We have the same problem here, I got a snail shot last week.http://www.pbase.com/image/28216135 This one was escaping from the others.
You have to admit, they are blech but they make a great picture. Fantastic details!

Perhaps they're edible, in stews or something?
The curvature of the leave melts into that snail. Very nice.

Absolutely perfect photograph.

The snail may be blech, but the image is just stunning. Incredible detail in the snail and the leaf. I'd be laying out there among them, creating a snail gallery...then I'd kill them.

Long live the snails! (superb photo, btw) :-)
