Common Sandpiper (Scotland)

Attracted by a large stone bridge, we stopped along a beautiful river somewhat south of Stonehaven. Acording to a sign, the river is top salmon and sea trout water and is leased to a fishing club, so one cannot fish here without a permit, but the land is a nature preserve and open to the public for other uses.

We saw a number of sandpipers, Black-Headed Gulls, a few Grey Herons, a Mute Swan, a Pied Wagtail, and a European Goldfinch.

Nice. I like this. The bird really blends with the rocks.
