I have to agree with Jason on this one. This is really hard to look at. I love the color and patterns in the iris, if you could preserve those and darken the rest of the image some to make it less harsh I think it would still be striking. I don't mind the flare in the pupil. High points for trying something different! ~Sharon

I know you have the image bleached out on purpose; but my personal opinion is that it is just a little overwhelming - you might have more success with the effect if it is a little more subdued.
Great focus on the pupil - you might want to remove the flare in the pupil as well - to me it is distracting - the same with the eyelashes that cover the eye -
I always try producing a couple different variations before I finally nail something down - if you have Adobe Bridge it offers you some cool tools to help you with this, such as being able to display thumbnails of all variations one image might have.
Please don't take my critique negatively, I think it's great if we can ALL offer help and suggestions to one another because that's one of the best ways to learn - I just wish MORE PEOPLE WOULD COMMENT INSTEAD OF JUST POSTING AND LEAVING IT TO THE REST OF US!
