Ok, So the Pumpkin Carver was my friend Adam and this was for a local chemistry magic show (I am the chem club VP at my university) and the light inside the pumpkin is a Magnesium Flare :-0. Its crazy, but we love doing these kind of stunts. And the kids that we put the show on for, love it too. BTW, I am so glad you guys liked my humble efforts. Thank you so much for your kind words.

Ok - I understand now why you actually added noise to the smoke and I kind of like it now - I wish people would explain their pics more like you have done so we could get a better understanding of the thought process that went into them ... the noise is kinda creepy when you stare at it - nice effect ... I like both your pics - 1. did you carve the pumpkin yourself? 2. What kind of lighting are you using inside the pumpkin?

Another great shot of this pumpkin, with an even spookier feel than the other. I agree that the noise in the smoke adds something here, rather than detracts. It doesn't even really look like noise to me---more like smoke particles? Exposure of the smoke is right on, but the left side of the castle is a little bright, which I find a bit distracting. ---Chris

Thank you for your comment,
I really appreciate it.
the reason why I left the noise in the smoke (intentionally) was to give it a sort of ghostly spectar around the builiding effect. As my understanding goes with spectars is that they are more solid looking than smoke. I really enjoyed the faces you can see forming. specially at the left of the picture where it seems like a guy is screaming of the top of his lungs in fron of the left wall of the house. I hope this serves as an understandable explanation of my choices in the entry.

Very nice pic PanFan - I like the addition of the smoke in this particular version of the pic - that together with the backlighting makes for a cold, eery effect - if you don't mind a little constructive criticism, I would reduce some of the noise in the smoke ... overally great composition and great pic ...
