This image is also an infrared macro taken with a Cokin P007 infrared filter mounted over the lens. An off-camera SB800 in a miniture softbox, angled above the head of the alien, was used to provide the "glow" and create shadows, giving the image more contrast and depth.

The softness is deliberate and the graininess is a result of the IR combined with the ISO 400 setting. Post processing is limited to black and white conversion and cropping.
