This is an infrared macro photo. A Cokin P007 filter was mounted over the lens to cut off visible light, allowing only near-infrared light reflected off the lighter areas of this HR Gieger model to enter the lens. This resulted in an image with much greater contrast.
The only post processing done was to convert the image to black and white and to resize it.
