Ready To Land

Las Gallinas Wildlife Ponds, San Rafael, CA

This Great Egret flew past us on our walk this morning and landed practically in front of us.
I could have used more (-) exposure comp for the white in the sun, but I thought this still came out pretty well.
I didn't really have time to change my settings when this happened.

Yes, this was a dirt road that is one of the "trails" around the 4 ponds. They each have a gravel fire road around them or between them. People walk or bicycle around them, but there is room for a service truck for the land management people as needed. Laura

Was this along the road? You have such a wonderful selection of wildlife right in your "back yard". Your exposure looks good.

They are gorgeous birds. Love that you caught him with his wings spread out and not quite touching the ground. The dark background really sets him off. And you did a great job not blowing out the whites!
