Full sun and a super high speed will often make a color photo look black & white like this. Plus my guess would be that the subject was also originally monochromatic. Hint: Next time, try lowering your ISO to maybe 100 or 200 when you have this much bright light and no moving subject That will help with your exposure and produce less grain. Great photo subject.

Very nice detail and quite a face, Eldred. Glad you mentioned that you didn't convert to B/W but that it just naturally was this way.
