New Life - Baby Longleaf Pine
by Dale R. Palmer

New baby longleaf pine trees are sprouting all along my favorite country road. I photographed several against the natural green background but they are difficult to see against that background. So I provided a white backdrop and took the photo isolating the pine tree. It stands about a foot high but if left alone will grow to 60 feet or more and live 80 years or more in our local soil. Better soil will give a taller tree and longer life. Locally I hear them referred to as long needle pines.

Dale, I really like this shot a lot. Great idea about putting a white background to make the pine needles stand out. I also can't help but wonder how this show would look in b/w. Just my tuppence.

Ha, that's a lot of needles for such a small little thing! And I love Lisa's comment - bad hair day. LOL Good job with the colors and very nice work to help it stand out so well.

It looks like a bad hair day! But I do love the catch of the new green pine tree against the orange "dead" pine.

The White Background does really make this tiny pine stand out. Well done!
