Week 4: Black-Bellied Whistling ducks

Casselberry, FL

These ducks showed up at the pond near our house a couple of weeks ago.
There are probably 50 of them at the pond, along with Muscovy ducks.
They make the strangest sound when they are talking to each other.

I had not seen them before, but apparently they are common to Florida.

Beautiful ducks. Never seen them before. Great composition and I like how they are all together looking out before they jump in the water. Something has clearly caught all their attention at once.

This is super composition, Lisa. Your balance is perfect. You didn't zoom in so tight that there was nothing to connect the ducks to the scene. Love the curve in the photo as a leading line. You are using your new P900 very well. The ducks' poses are good. Very nice. Plus the subject is interesting.

How very fun to see them in the wild! I've seen them at zoo aviaries or wildlife refuges. They are quite pretty ducks. And yes, they got their name for a reason - that funny sound! ;) Nicely shot, Lisa.
