Big Spring Park
The Christmas Tree trail is comprised of hundreds of Christmas trees, with varying levels of sponsors ranging from individuals to large corporations. The Christmas trees wrap around a large portion of the lake near Von Braun Center. The lake is fed by Big Spring that flows from the base of a cliff beneath Huntsville's old State Bank, established in 1836, when the Whig Party controlled State Government. But when the Jacksonian Democrats gained control of the State in 1844, they promised to shut down the State Bank. The State Bank ceased to exist in 1844, when its charter was not renewed. This shot was hand-held but my wrist was resting on Anne's shoulder to help dampen my tremors.
