Week 2: Swallows
by Breezanemom

Virginia

I think these are swallows. Can anyone help me ID them?
They were nesting on the underside of a bridge in Virginia.
They kept swooping in and out, I believe bringing bugs to babies in the nests (but I'm not sure).
They were far too fast for me to get any pics of them flying.
And of course the "big" lens (the 150-600) was in the car, which was about 1/2 mile away.

Interesting shot. I have never seen Cliff Swallows before. Don't think we have them here. I had to laugh where you said the big lens was as these things happen to me! lol

Yes, Cliff Swallows - I agree with Dick. The buffy rump and pale forehead are distinguishing features. Nicely shot.

I think they are Cliff Swallows, almost like a Barn swallow but doesn't have the long split tail.
